Halloween Baking...

I really want to get better at baking, cookies, cupcakes all the sweet fancy things in life!!! I've been following a few other blogs that have so many great ideas! When it comes to cookie decorating there amazing. I hope to improve on my techniques.

I haven't found a sugar cookie recipe I love so right now my secret weapon is the Betty Crocker Mix in a bag, although I follow different directions. On some packages it is shown as the Cut Out Cookie Recipe others it's not there at all.

*It's basically 1/3 Cup Butter Instead of the whole Stick and a tablespoon of Flour. Even though it's not shown in the directions I find it a must to put the dough in the fridge for a few minutes before rolling out. Seems to not be as sticky! Also I find by already having the bulk of ingredients on hand and ready to go it means you have more time to decorate!

The ABSOLUTE best part of baking is having Layla Girl Help!!! She Loves It!

Here's the Process - Bake - Frost with Plain White Royal Icing - Then Use the Frosting Tubes Below

Get Creative Start by drawing simple circle's then use a tooth pick to connect the lines together!

Really an easy method with great results!

ENJOY!

All Things Egg...

Here's This weeks egg dish, out of the same Food Network Magazine as last weeks... This one was a Lil bit problematic?
Here's the actual picture from the Magazine How hard can it be right, Frozen hash browns, onions, brown with butter top with cheese... Break Eggs and bake at 425 in til eggs are set... Serve with Salsa!
Note to Self, Do not melt butter before adding hash browns.. This is what happens a burnt hash brown mess... Second Pan and Salvaged hash browns.....

Yummy.... I hope to prefect this one, I definitely think next time I'll put the hash browns with cheese in the oven before I add the eggs on... To get it more crispy like the original picture? Maybe a few mintues or so then top with the eggs! It was very tasty!

Happy Breakfast!

All Things Egg...

I'm pretty excited to say I finally tried something out of my New Food Network magazine, I don't know if it was because it was an egg dish (easy) or just simply because I mustard up enough courage! Plus it was Easter and I wanted to branch out from my normal breakfast spread! So here it is on the cover looks yummo, huh! I KNOW my picture isn't an exact match but hey this is how it turned out the first time.... I realize I could be all Martha Stewart and make a 100 of them before I get the PERFECT one but what the hay I didn't have the time, we had to be at church in an hour! However I would totally recommend this for the kiddos Layla thought it was the neatest thing...

I don't have a picture step by step but I'll try to add some next time I make it!

Simple : Slice of Bread

- Melted butter in a pan, med high heat

- Use a small biscuit cutter to make take out the center of the bread.

- Put "holy" bread into melted butter, flip once or twice

- Break egg directly into bread hole, will still in pan!

- Cover with foil, cook 5 min or in till egg is the way you like it!

* I actually popped mine in the oven covered! It did a nice job of cooking through! @ 350

Get The Good Dirt (Out) Here.....

Looking at me, most of you have NO idea how cheap I am, My dad interjects "Your not cheap so you can save, Your Cheap so you can spend somewhere else" I think it's the old adage save a penny to spend a buck? Something of that nature! This being said, I've looked at all the things I hate spending on such as LAUNDRY DETERGENT, diapers, formula etc... Although I can't bring myself to ever try cloth diapers or breast feeding for more then 7 months those areas can only be curbed so much! Laundry Detergent on the other hand can be slashed! (side note) Its great for people with sensitive skin, my hubby has eczema and this really does the trick when he's having a flare up!

Here Ye Here Ye Is My Secret Recipe!

Recipe # 9

12 Cups of Borax - Borax is hard to find, Walmart has it! It's cheap so buy what they have cause its randomly stocked....

8 Cups of Baking Soda- I use the brand Arm & Hammer Deodorizer

8 Cups Washing Soda - This is where you can add, a scent if you want?

8 Cups of Bar Soap Grated- I use Zote Laundry Soap, this can also be found at Walmart Its PINK and costs about .80 cents or so!

I recommend getting a cheap cheese grater that you save just more making your detergent you'll be glad you won't have to worry about your food tasting like SOAP!! He He He He I've found using the smallest size on the grater helps the soap dissolve quicker in the wash!

I also recommend getting a cheap sealed tub, to keep the bulk of it in... save your old detergent container to refill!

Also I always double the recipe, you'll get double out of everything... Expect the bar of soap, which is so cheap you can just grab a few to have on hand!

I used to have the "old" style machines (top loaders) and it works great, we just got a hand me down fancy May Tag front loader, and I haven't had any issues using this soap with either!

Happy Laundry... Let me know if You try it!
